The anomaly scan, usually performed between 18 and 22 weeks, is one of the most important ultrasounds of your pregnancy. It is a detailed, head-to-toe examination of your baby's development.
What does the anomaly scan check?
Our radiologist carefully examines your baby's brain, face, spine, heart, stomach, kidneys, limbs and the position of the placenta. We also measure growth and check the amount of amniotic fluid to make sure everything is developing as expected.
Why is it so important?
This scan can reassure you that your baby is developing well, and in the small number of cases where a concern is found, early detection allows you and your doctors to plan the safest possible care. It is about knowledge, preparation and peace of mind.
What to expect during the scan
